3 Things You Didn’t Know About Our Summer Markets Sponsor: WCDA

Since the opening of David Street Station, the Wyoming Community Development Authority has been a source of continual support for our facility as well as many other organizations around the state. More commonly known as WCDA, the organization’s mission is focused on helping fellow Wyoming citizens attain quality and affordable housing with a wide variety of financial tools and resources. Alongside every service they provide, WCDA shows tremendous support for Wyoming’s citizens. We, along with so many others, are grateful for the role that WCDA plays in our community.

3 Facts You May Not Know About WCDA

1. WCDA has supported DSS since day one.

Those of you who have strolled through David Street Station on a Tuesday afternoon know that WCDA is the proud sponsor for each Food for Thought Summer Market! The sponsorship WCDA provides has made it possible to host weekly farmers’ markets at our facility for the community to enjoy. Featuring local vendors sharing their fresh food products, baked goods, body care, home décor, and so much more the Summer Markets have become a summertime staple for those looking to support local.

2. WCDA is not just for first-time home buyers.

WCDA, most commonly, provides an easier way for first-time homebuyers to finance their first home through lower interest options. However, what you may not know, is that WCDA offers numerous programs and educational resources for its community members. From homebuyer education & counseling to financing for rehabilitation and home renovations, they also offer resources for down-payment assistance, refinancing, and much more.

3. WCDA is a leader in COVID-19 support for homeowners statewide.

During these trying and difficult times, WCDA is aiding those experiencing COVID-19 related financial hardships. On June 4, 2020, the WCDA was authorized by State legislators to launch the Wyoming Emergency Housing Assistance Program (WEHAP), to help administer funds from the State of Wyoming and U.S. Department of Treasury CARES Act. Recipients of the WEHAP may receive one month of emergency rent or mortgage payment assistance up to $2,000, with the ability to request for continued assistance, to help aid expenses during this difficult time.
