Spotlight: Larry Wilson – Dancing with the Stars of Casper
Breaking out the dancing shoes to compete in this year’s Dancing with the Stars of Casper was something that Larry Wilson never thought of doing. But, when he was approached to compete, he didn’t even hesitate and said yes right away. Each year the Mercer Family Resource Center puts on the production at the Casper Events Center. When choosing their dancers, they select local “celebrities,” or well-known Casper-ites, to show off their skills and strut their stuff for all to see.
If you have been to any event at David Street Station, you have seen Larry and several of his employees providing security through his company Secure Gunz. Larry and his family have been constant supporters of David Street Station since its inception. Often, his wife and sister will help with security at events and his children can be seen enjoying the live entertainment that the Station is known for.
Family is very important to Larry and he says that they are always having a good time. When asked about his prior dance experience he laughed, “Well, we are always dancing at my house. My wife, kids and I have the best time when we are just hanging out as a family and dancing. I am not even the best dancer in my family. When they called me, I thought they had the wrong Wilson and were looking for my wife.”
Finding time to rehearse between work and family, as he is a full-time employee at Greiner Ford in addition to owning his own business, has been challenging. Rehearsals started in June, and he and partner Mary Facciani have come a long way in perfecting their dance. Each dancing duo has a professional instructor to choreograph and teach the dance moves to the “celebrity.” With several years as a dance teacher and current health instructor at LifeTime Health and Fitness, Mary has been an excellent partner for this year’s movie-themed competition.
If you haven’t bought your tickets for this year’s Dancing with the Stars of Casper, you still can. The event takes place this Saturday, October 27th at 6pm. You can cast your People’s Choice Award vote for Larry and Mary here. Special surprises are in store for each dancing couple, and while Larry cannot share many details of their performance, he proudly shared that his two sons will be participating in the dance. We are excited to cheer on David Street Station’s Larry Wilson and see all of the dancing numbers from each contestant this Saturday. Hope you can join us for a wonderful cause!
