From the Board of Directors: Staff of Two Rocked Summer Events
David Street Station was packed with patrons nearly every day of the week throughout summer 2018. The entertainment and events changed frequently, but two things remained constant: Kevin Hawley and Jackie Landess.
Executive director of the Downtown Development Authority, Kevin, and Operations Manager of David Street Station, Jackie, were seen at every David Street Station event, rain or shine.
David Street Station operations are 100% privately funded through donations, grants, endowments, and sponsorships. We receive no tax dollar contributions. Throughout our first season, we’ve remained incredibly fiscally conservative to ensure we set a foundation for the future success of David Street Station. With a small budget for staff, this meant that David Street Station employed only two full-time employees for the summer season.
As you can imagine, a lot goes into creating each event and ensuring its success. From setup to tear down, and all through the event, these two staff members made everything come together smoothly and behind the scenes to create the atmosphere David Street Station is known for.
At certain events, part-time employees and AMBASSADORS helped out, but when no one was available to pitch in, the mainstays cleaned bathrooms, swept the facility, and emptied trash.
Jackie and Kevin’s duties exceeded their director responsibilities as they took on roles of events coordinators, maintenance techs, and janitorial staff. To say they are the heart of David Street Station is an understatement.
As the Board of Directors of the Downtown Development Authority, we applaud and thank Kevin and Jackie for their tireless work to make David Street Station a fun, clean, and safe place and #WhereCasperComesTogether. We are excited to see what they have in store for the winter 2018 season and for years to come.
