After years of planning, fundraising, and public/private collaboration, the Downtown Development Authority Board of Directors cordially invites the public to the Grand Opening of David Street Station.
The celebration will begin at 5:30pm on August 16th in advance of the upcoming Wyoming Eclipse Festival. Phase 1 of David Street Station will be complete at this time, featuring a large performance stage, a synthetic turf lawn, and integrated vendor areas. The space will host festivals, concerts, markets, outdoor movies, classes, and other community events with Phase 2 scheduled to open in the spring. Phase 2 will feature a splash pad and an ice skating rink, and will also have a maintenance building with restrooms and an observation deck overlooking the performance stage.
David Street Station is an events-driven public space connecting the Old Yellowstone District to Downtown Casper. The first large event at David Street Station will be the 4-day Eclipse Festival, with live music and entertainment, food trucks, vendors, beer, and activities for the whole family. The Wyoming Eclipse Festival starts Friday, August 18th and runs from 10am to 10pm through August 21st. This event is free, thanks to the generosity of Ford and The McMurry Foundation.
The Grand Opening of David Street Station will be hosted by long time radio personality Bob Price, and will feature remarks by the Downtown Development Authority Board Chairman Brandon Daigle. Casper Mayor Kenyne Humphrey will offer an official proclamation and introduce the Governor of Wyoming, Matt Mead, who will voice his support for the project and the benefits that it will have for the community.
A ceremonial ribbon cutting will follow, as the space is formally and officially opened to the public.
Bob Price will lead the stage dedication to honor Brian Scott Gamroth, who was a key member of the David Street Station team. Brian’s son, Kyle, is expected to say a few words on behalf of the Gamroth family.
A private reception for project team members and donors will follow at the Lyric, featuring Secretary of State Ed Murray.
David Street Station stands just $450,000 (5%) shy of full project funding. Donations of any size are appreciated and will help us complete this amazing community space.
